魏知古，深州人。性方直，有才名，弱冠舉進士。長安中，歷鳳閣舍人。神龍初，擢吏部侍郎。睿宗即位，以藩邸故吏，召拜黃門侍郎，遷散騎常侍，同平章事。開元初，改紫微令，終工部尚書。所薦洹水令呂太一、蒲州司功參軍齊澣、內率騎曹參軍柳澤、密尉宋遙、左補闕袁暉、右補闕封希顔、伊闕尉陳希烈，皆爲聞人。宋璟嘗稱曰：“叔向古之遺直，子產古之遺愛，能兼之者，其在魏公。”集七卷，今存詩五首。
