賀知章，字季真，會稽永興人。少以文詞知名，擢進士，累遷太常博士。開元中，張說爲麗正殿修書使，奏請知章入書院，同撰《六典》及《文纂》。後轉太常少卿，遷禮部侍郎，加集賢院學士，改授工部侍郎，俄遷秘書監。知章性放曠，晚尤縱誕，自號四明狂客，醉後屬詞，動成卷軸。又善草隸，人共傳寶。天寶初，請爲道士還鄉里。詔賜《鏡湖剡川》一曲，御製詩以贈行，皇太子已下咸就執別，年八十六卒，肅宗贈禮部尚書。詩一卷。 賀知章字季真，會稽永興人。證聖初擢進士第，陸象先引爲太常博士，累遷祕書監。天寶三載請爲道士還鄉里，未幾卒，年八十六。補詩一首。
