蕭嵩，梁宣帝裔孫。初與陸象先爲僚壻，象先，相門子。嵩尚未入仕，相者曰：“陸郎十年內，位極人臣，然不及蕭郎，一門盡貴，官高多壽。”景雲元年，嵩爲醴泉尉，時象先已爲中書侍郎。引爲監察御史，驟遷殿中。開元初，拜中書舍人，與王丘、齊澣同列。未之異，獨姚崇許其致遠，三遷尚書左丞，尋以兵部尚書節度河西。以破吐蕃功，入爲中書令，遙領河西節度，終太子太師，年八十餘。子衡，尚新昌公主，以三品就養，時論榮之。詩二首。
