秦系，字公緒，會稽人。天寶末，避亂剡溪，北都留守薛兼訓奏爲右衛率府倉曹參軍，不就。建中初，客泉州，南安有九日山，大松百餘章，俗傳東晉時所植。系結廬其上，穴石爲研，注《老子》，彌年不出。張建封聞系不可致，請就加校書郎。自號東海釣客，與劉長卿善，以詩相贈答。權德輿曰：“長卿自以爲五言長城，系用偏師攻之。”雖老益壯，其後東渡秣陵，年八十餘卒。南安人思之，號其山爲高士峰。詩一卷。
