法琳，姓陳，潁川人，寓居襄陽。少出家，住荆州青溪山玉泉寺。遊獵儒釋，博通內外詞旨。隋季入關，捨僧服歸俗。武德初復爲僧，住京師濟法寺。貞觀初移住龍田寺。十三年冬，因謗訕罪下獄，陳書自訴，詔不加罪，勅移於益郡僧舍。次年六月，行至百牢關因疾而卒，年六十九。著作甚多，傳世有《破邪論》、《辨正論》等。詩五首。（《全唐詩》無法琳詩。事蹟據《續高僧傳》卷二四本傳、《開元釋教錄》卷八本傳及《法琳別傳》。）
