方干，字雄飛，新定人。徐凝一見器之，授以詩律，始舉進士。謁錢塘太守姚合，合視其貌陋，甚卑之。坐定覽卷，乃駭目變容。館之數日，登山臨水，無不與焉。咸通中，一舉不得志，遂遯會稽，漁於鑑湖，太守王龜以其亢直，宜在諫署，欲薦之，不果。干自咸通得名，迄文德，江之南無有及者。歿後十餘年，宰臣張文蔚奏名儒不第者五人，請賜一官，以慰其魂，干其一也。後進私謚曰玄英先生，門人楊弇與釋子居遠收得詩三百七十餘篇，集十卷。今編詩六卷。
