寒山，不知何許人，居天台唐興縣寒巖。時往還國清寺，以樺皮爲冠，布裘弊履，或長廊唱詠，或村墅歌嘯，人莫識之。閭丘胤宦丹丘，臨行，遇豐干師，言從天台來，閭丘問彼地有何賢堪師。師曰：“寒山文殊，拾得普賢，在國清寺庫院廚中著火。”閭丘到官三日，親往寺中，見二人，便禮拜。二人大笑曰：“豐干饒舌，饒舌，阿彌不識，禮我何爲？”即走出寺，歸寒巖，寒山子入穴而去，其穴自合。嘗於竹木石壁書詩，幷村墅屋壁所寫文句三百餘首。今編詩一卷。
