孟浩然，字浩然，襄陽人。少隱鹿門山，年四十，乃遊京師。常於太學賦詩，一坐嗟伏，與張九齡、王維爲忘形交。維私邀入內署，適明皇至，浩然匿牀下，維以實對。帝喜曰：“朕聞其人而未見也。”詔浩然出，誦所爲詩。至“不才明主棄”，帝曰：“卿不求仕，朕未[嘗]常棄卿，奈何誣我？”因放還。採訪使韓朝宗約浩然偕至京師，欲薦諸朝。會與故人劇飲懽甚，不赴。朝宗怒，辭行，浩然亦不悔也。張九齡鎮荆州，署爲從事。開元末，疽發背卒。浩然爲詩，佇興而作，造意極苦，篇什既成，洗削凡近，超然獨妙，雖氣象清遠，而采秀內映，藻思所不及。當明皇時，章句之風大得建安體，論者推李杜爲尤，介其間能不媿者，浩然也。集三卷，今編詩二卷。 孟浩然，襄陽人。開元二十八年卒，年五十二。（複出一首）
