一鉢和尚，原依伏生上人收前蜀，未允，已詳前。《鑑誡錄》云：「一鉢廣開法席，大扇迷途，聾𦗺聞之，往往解悟。」《宋高僧傳》卷十一云：「一鉢和尚者歌詞叶理，激勸憂思之深，然文體涉里巷，豈加《三傷》之典雅乎？」於其生平，述之皆未具體。宋釋子昇、如祐編《禪門諸宜師偈頌》卷上之下收此詩，題作「杯度禪師《一鉢歌》」。杯度爲劉宋時僧人，慧皎《高僧傳》卷十錄其事迹，恐有誤。《景德傳燈錄》卷三十收此歌於道吾和尚《樂道歌》之次，《祖庭事苑》卷七云道吾和尚「嘗作《樂道歌》、《一鉢歌》盛行於世」。道吾和尚法名圓智，俗姓張，住潭州道吾山，大和末年卒，年六十七，《宋高僧傳》卷十一、《景德傳燈錄》卷十四有傳。
