百里猶鄉土，千年亦比鄰。
願言培世德，未敢詠維新。

）（按：梅遠爲北宋著名詩人梅堯臣的曾祖。
《歐陽文忠公文集》卷三三《梅聖俞墓誌銘》云：「曾祖諱遠，祖諱邈，皆不仕。
」楊傑《無爲集》卷十三《故朝奉郎守殿中丞梅君〖正臣〗墓誌銘》云：「南唐末，曾祖遠爲宣城掾。
」正臣爲堯臣弟。
《宛雅三編》卷二引《梅氏詩譜》，謂遠字維明，光化間由吳興之宣城爲掾。
以宣之風土淳厚，遂築居於州學之西，著有《遷居草》。
今按：三書所記稍有出入。
考《歐陽文忠公文集》卷三十一《太子中舍梅君墓誌銘》，堯臣父梅讓卒於皇祐元年，年九十一，推其生年，爲顯德六年。
以此推測，梅遠約生於十世紀初，以仕南唐爲是。
《梅氏詩譜》有誤，今不取光化年仕宣說。
